Community Service Projects and Fundraising For more than a decade, the Club has helped to raise over one million dollars to support programs for the prevention of child abuse. Other community projects have included hosting holiday parties for ill and handicapped children; rebuilding community centers; and raising funds to feed the homeless at Thanksgiving. Examples of recent community service projects and fundraising follow. |
· Garage Sale Fundraisers for the Turnaround Scholarship Fund. The Club provides scholarships to college students exhibiting potential to overcome societal challenges and succeed. Garage sale proceeds help support this fund. Our June 2007 Hawaii Kai and May 2006 Wahiawa garage sales raised over $1,800 and $1,000, respectively. |
· 2007 and 2005 Fundraising for the Prevention of Child Abuse. In 2007, the Club contributed auction items as well as physical labor in support of the “Pau Hana” fund raiser for the Hawaii Family Support Institute and the Kapi‘olani Child At Risk Evaluation Program held at the Plaza Club. In 2005, the Club helped to raise over $90,000 for the same organizations. |

· 2007 Kids Day. Club members donated time and strutted their stuff at downtown corners, all to help sell newspapers to raise money for Parents and Children Together (PACT). |
· Kokua Kalihi Valley Work Day. In July of 2007, Club members donated time and hard labor to help KKV prepare the grounds of the future park facility. Efforts included vegetation clearing, trail-building, and cleaning. |
· 2007 Recruiting Parties. Using the various downtown art galleries and the Harbor Court recreation room, three parties were held in the first half of 2007 to introduce prospective members to the Club. Wine, food, and conversation were plentiful. |
· Pacific Aviation Museum Field Trip. Instead of meeting at the Oahu Country Club, members met for lunch at the Aviation Museum on Ford Island, Pearl Harbor. A docent tour providing fascinating stories about individuals in Hawaii during WWII followed. |
· 2007 Halloween Party. The annual Halloween party was held this year at Studio Be. Boo! |

· 2006 Road Rally. In March, more than 15 teams participated in The Great Race. The team of Schneider & Schneider used their local knowledge of the Honolulu area to effectively navigate through the cryptic directions, provided by the race director—the Club’s very own Mr. Kemper, to find the party first. |
